Slow Down!

Do you ever feel like your children are growing up in the blink of an eye? One minute while changing diapers, I blink, and now we are shopping for prom dresses. Where does the time go? Next month my oldest daughter turns 16. Holy crap! 16?!?!

The teenage years are nothing short of an emotional roller coaster ride. We yell, we fight, we apologize, we laugh, we learn, and most importantly, we love. Somedays I feel like I don't spend enough time listening and really taking in the day around me with my daughters. My oldest is currently scheduling college classes she will take next year, along with trying to find a job and schedule her drivers test. It feels like time is just slipping away as I sit here and watch my girls turn into amazing young women.
I couldn't be more proud of my girls and the people they are becoming. I was in awe looking at my daughter in her prom dress. I was both astonished by how beautiful she looked and tearful at how grown up she really is.
It was in that moment that I realized how little time I have left before she graduates and moves out to explore the world on her own. I hope that, in the time we have left living together, I am able to teach her valuable lessons and give her good advice. I often feel that I am failing as a parent. Kids don't come with instruction manuals and just winging it can often be overwhelming. I pray that I am getting it right. I hope my girls can look back someday and know that mom tried her best everyday.
I will cherish and make the most out of every day with my girls. Because the next time I blink, they will be all grown up.
