Sound Off: One Naked Kim Kardashian

I wanted to talk about Kim Kardashian's nude photo this week. You're probably thinking, who fucking cares? She's a horrible person! Ehhh, maybe she is, but I think we have to look at the bigger picture here. Kim posted a photo on Instagram. It was almost nude – little black bars on the goods (my daughter calls it "the business"). If you haven't seen it, make sure you click the link below. She looks stunning, and I'm way jealous. So, anyway, she posts this photo and it goes as you would think it would. Not great...

When I saw that she was getting backlash for the photo, I was like, well, duh. What did she expect? When you put your body on the Internet, you get all kinds – and she, of all people, should know that. That was my knee-jerk reaction. I still sort of feel that way, but when I read this write-up by Kim, I kind of changed my tune. Here it is:

I finished reading this and was actually super impressed with Kim K. (not something I thought I would say! LOL). She makes some fantastic points about herself and about society today. Two quotes really stuck with me:
I don't do drugs, I hardly drink, I've never committed a crime—and yet I'm a bad role model for being proud of my body?
I am a mother. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, an entrepreneur and I am allowed to be sexy.
So, I am left feeling a little torn. I'm not sure what she expected to happen when she put up that photo. On the other hand, she absolutely has a point. Why should she be ashamed of her body? Why should any of us be ashamed of our bodies? I mean, I'm not suggesting that we all put nude photos on the Internet, but we have to stop being ashamed of ourselves and shaming other women. We are sisters; we are the female tribe! We are women, and we are allowed to be sexy!

What do you guys think? Were you offended? Did you roll your eyes (like me)? Is there a bigger message in all of this? Let us know in the comments!
