6 Ways to Stay on Top of Your A-Game





Be a badass! Be amazing! Be true to you! Kick ass! You can do it all! So...you've set all these fantastic goals and achieving one is lofty, but what about when you try to do all of them...at once?! I'm not for a minute saying we can't, because that is just bullshit! We can do all of this, we just need to make sure we don't kill ourselves trying. Oh and by the way, this totally goes for guys too!




People, being a badass is tiring, and if we aren't careful it will burn us all up. How shitty would that be?!? Finally getting where you want to be, and then passing out from exhaustion. With that said, I am going to harp on my favorite topic...SELF CARE! If you truly want to be the best you can be, you have to take care of yourself. An empty pitcher has nothing left in it to pour into other things. Staying on top of your A game means taking care of yourself.

Here's some tips for staying on top of your A game so you can continue being the badass you are:

6 - Set SMART goals - know what you want and look for ways to accomplish your goals. SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) goals are an excellent ways start this. SMART goals are the short-term goals that stair step you into your long-term goals. This is the easiest way to check things off your list and realize you are not just spinning your wheels.

5 - Be flexible - life changes, your goals and priorities change. Set your goals and then re-evaluate them from time to time. As life changes we change too. Just because you have wanted to be a doctor from the age of 5 doesn't mean deciding to be an artist at 25 is bad. It's just different, and if you kick ass as an artist....GO! Just be ok with change.

4 - Find your center - for many people this involves spirituality. If this is you, then take the time each day to find your center spiritually. Read your bible, read inspirational stories, meditate, pray, go to your quiet place, spend time with your family (maybe while they are sleeping), listen to music, or dance. Whatever it takes center yourself so you can move forward.

3 - Educate yourself - spend time enriching your mind with things outside of your daily life. If you are in marketing read about the ocean. If you are a SAHM read about the law. If you are in accounting read about kids. Just expand your mind into areas you might not know a lot about, it's fun and makes you a great trivia partner.

2 - Prioritize - this is a hard one as everything always seems to be on fire at the same time. The kids need their lunches made for school. The baby is crying and the dog just peed on the carpet. What comes first? Seriously, it never stops. And yet, you have to decide what comes first. The same is true in all areas of life. Set your priorities. Know what needs to be done, has to be done, and what you want to get done, these are all different categories and once you recognize it you will feel less stressed. Like you need to feed your kids, you have to get them to school, and you want to take a shower. See how that works!

1 - And finally just breathe. Out of everything, in every day, take 5 minutes and breathe. This might sound stupid, but we so often forget to, well, just breathe. Step outside and walk around the block, pick up a trashy novel, give yourself a facial, or just sit back and kick your feet up. Whatever it takes, make sure you take the time to breathe.

Remember you are a badass! But every badass needs to take time to care for themselves. Please take care of yourself.  We can't rule the world without you!
